CT second opinion online: your report, reviewed by Swiss specialists

Had a CT scan and want to double-check the report or understand it better? Specialist radiologists review your existing CT images independently and in writing. You upload the images online and receive a structured second-opinion report as a PDF.

What is a CT second opinion?

A CT second opinion is a fresh, independent review of CT images you already have, by a second specialist radiologist. No new scan is performed and no additional radiation dose is involved: the review is based on your images and the existing report.

The second opinion is a written assessment of the imaging. It does not replace the examination, advice or treatment by your own doctor. It helps you put the first report in context and prepare the conversation with your treating physician.

When is a CT second opinion useful?

  • When the CT report is unclear or leaves questions open
  • For an incidental finding, for example a lung nodule or a change in the liver or kidney
  • Before surgery, a biopsy or another far-reaching treatment decision
  • When follow-up scans have been assessed differently
  • When you want the report explained in plain language

Costs and insurance

A CT second opinion is usually a self-paid service that you pay for online when you order. Whether your health insurer or a supplementary policy reimburses all or part of it depends on your contract and has to be checked case by case. It is best to ask your insurer before ordering; you can submit the written report to them.

CT second opinion: frequently asked questions

How much does a CT second opinion cost, for example for a chest CT?

Depending on the package, CHF 250 (Essential), CHF 350 (Standard) or CHF 600 (Premium) per examination, whatever the body region. Every package includes a specialist report as a PDF and a plain-language summary; the packages differ in turnaround time and extra services.

How quickly will I receive the CT second opinion?

Within 1–2 business days with Essential, 1 business day with Standard and 6 clinical working hours with Premium (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 Swiss time), counted from receipt of payment and the complete image files.

How do I get my CT images for a second opinion?

Ask the imaging centre or hospital where the CT was done. They will give you a copy of your images, usually on a CD, a USB stick or as a download, together with the written report. Upload the folder unchanged in our form.

Which CT examinations can get a second opinion?

CT examinations of any body region, for example chest CT, abdominal CT, head CT, spine CT or sinus CT, with or without contrast. Each package covers one examination or body region.

Will my health insurance cover the CT second opinion?

You pay for the second opinion directly to us. Whether your health insurer or supplementary insurance reimburses part of it depends on your policy, so please ask them first. You can submit the report to them.

What happens if the second opinion differs from the first report?

The second-opinion report explains clearly where the assessment agrees with the first report and where it differs. Discuss both reports with your treating doctor, who decides on the next steps together with you.
